The Reading Is Fundamental Book Distribution Program distributes new, high interest, multicultural books to elementary and middle school children.  Its goal is to promote reading as a life-long activity.  Since 1996, the program has maintained its approval status from Reading Is Fundamental, Inc. of Washington, DC.  RIF is the oldest and largest literacy organization in the country.

Through grass root efforts of more than one million volunteers, it serves more than 40 million children at more than 17,000 program sites and has distributed over 413 million books to children across 50 states.  The RIF Book Distribution Program continues its partnerships with the James C. Wright Middle School in South Madison and the Boys and Girls Club of Dane County.
